When it's beginning to get late, and you feel your tummy is starting to growl, you want something to fill your stomach. There are a couple of possibilities to do that.

Normal dining
You can go out to a restaurant to eat dinner. There you can find almost everything depending if they do an international cuisine or local. Most of the things that you find for lunch like tacos, tlayudas... they will serve as well. If you want to know more about this, we have another blog about all of this here.
Street food
Most of the time you will only find these snacks at night (after sunset), if you're lucky you can also find them after noon in some cities, for example Tuxtla.
Elotes: ears of corn skewered on a stick, then covered with mayonnaise, cheese, lime and chili. (sometimes you can also find them with butter) The first time we heard it, we thought: this can't be a good combination, but we had to try it and we fell in love! The best ones we had were in Oaxaca, because there was one vendor who had chipotle mayonnaise instead of regular one and the extra of that was amazing! Every night we went by to get one, you're welcome! For an elote you normally will pay 15 MXN (€0,75).
Esquites: Every booth that sells elotes will normally also have esquites. Esquites are the kernels from the corn cob and cooked in chicken broth and epazote. The corn is served in a cup, topped with the same thing that goes on the elotes: mayo or butter, cheese, lime and chili powder. The price variate from 15 MXN for a small cup to 25 MXN for a big cup.
Tostesquites: For the ones that love chips, but also corn, this is the match made in heaven! As a base they use Tostitos salsa verde, a spicy tortilla chip. They open the bag sideways and then they cover this with corn and depending on the city other toppings. In Oaxaca you could get as a topping: mayonnaise (or chipotle mayo if you found the right booth), chili, lime and cheese for 30 MXN. When we were in Tuxtla they also added carrots, cucumber, beetroot but left out the mayo for 25 MXN - 35 MXN. Apparently there are also vendors who add sausages but unfortunately we haven't found them yet. So if anyone knows where these vendors are, please tell us!
Hamburgers and hot dogs: A snack that you can find everywhere in the world but these ones are always made with more love then you can find in a McDo or Burger King. A brown baked hamburgers topped with tomato, lettuce, onion, peppers an chili sauce in a crispy bun with sesame seed or a hot dog sausage wrapped with bacon in a bun with chili's and tomato, anyone feeling hungry yet? For a hamburger you will pay from 35 MXN to 45 MXN and a hot dog will go around 20 MXN. Sometimes you can find deals like 3 hot dogs for 25 MXN, but only in the bigger cities.
